Taking your pet to America

The United States of America, a vast and diverse nation known for its stunning landscapes and warm hospitality, is a destination that many pet owners aspire to bring their furry companions to, and it's no surprise it's one of our most popular routes from the UK.

Fortunately, it is straightforward to transport your cat or dog here, and with just a Rabies vaccination, we can arrange travel to almost any destination in the US - sometimes with only several days notice.

Our services are in high demand for popular routes like London to Los Angeles, Dallas, New York, San Francisco, Orlando, Miami, Boston, Philadelphia, and Chicago, to name a few! We can arrange travel to almost any destination so please contact us today for more information.

General Information, Entry Procedure and Requirements

No import permit is required for the US; however, both cats and dogs will need to be vaccinated against Rabies. If their vaccination is up to date, all that is required is a fit-to-fly issued by the vet within 10 days of departure (or we can arrange it at the airport on the day of/before the flight). If this is their initial (first ever) vaccine, then they will need to wait 21 days from the day of vaccination before travelling.

We mainly use British Airways and American Airlines for transatlantic flights. While BA travel directly to more destinations, in 2024, they introduced substantial minimum booking costs. For smaller and medium-sized pets (and cats), it can be more cost-effective to travel on American Airlines, who operate a hub and spoke system. This means they operate several direct flights each day to ten major US airports (Los Angeles, Charlotte, Chicago, Miami, Phoenix, Raleigh Durham New York, Dallas Fort Worth, Boston, and Philadelphia). After arriving at one of the hubs, your pet will spend a night in the airport boarding facilities, before continuing on the next day on an internal flight.

Considering that most flights depart the UK earlier in the day (pet check in 4-6 hours before departure), we offer the option of boarding at Heathrow, allowing you to check your pet in the day before your flight.
